Certification mark for Documentation
Scope:
The certification mark applies to user information and technical documentation, including operating instructions, instructions for use and instruction manuals. The certification mark is applied to DocCert and DocCertSystem.
Basis of certification:
The certification mark is awarded within the framework of voluntary testing and certification. DocCert is based primarily on the EN 82079-1 standard, which includes the general principles and detailed requirements for the preparation of instructions for use, their structuring, content and presentation. Depending on the type of product, further legal requirements may be imposed on the documentation of the respective product. In the machine industry, for example, the Machinery Directive applies with the relevant Type A, B and C Standards.
The DocCertSystem is based on selected requirements specified for the editing process from the following standards: ISO 9001 (Quality Management systems – requirements), EN 82079-1 (Preparation of instructions for use - Structuring, content and presentation - Part 1: General principles and detailed requirements) and ISO 17100 (Translation Services - Requirements for translation services).

The DocCert certification mark can thus also be used as a “badge of honour” and marketing tool by companies and technical editing services (e.g. on company brochures or websites)
TÜV SÜD Product Service carries out DocCertSystem certification according to the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, complemented by specific requirements for editing processes.
