Certification mark for bioethanol

Scope:
The certification mark applies to bioethanol. Bioethanol is ethanol produced exclusively from biomass or biodegradable waste fractions. It is intended to be used as fuel for ethanol fireplaces.
Basis of certification:
The certification mark is awarded within the framework of voluntary testing and certification. The test procedure developed by TÜV SÜD includes strict requirements for pure bioethanol and the production processes applied, the quality assessment of the raw materials used, production and quality control at the production facility and the documentation of sustainable production. Testing also covers appearance and odour, density at 20°C, water and ethanol content, organic impurities and other characteristics.
Key words of the certification mark:
Production monitored
Periodic surveillance of the manufacture of a product constitutes the basic premise for certification which includes the award of a certification mark. Certification always requires product testing and regular factory inspections.
As a third-party expert organisation, TÜV SÜD verifies that the manufacturer is able to maintain consistent quality in line with the requirements throughout high-volume production and has established the necessary quality system, including incoming goods inspections, lists of materials and final product check.
In addition, calibration of the necessary measuring and monitoring equipment must be ensured. Surveillance and/or monitoring covers the testing of safety-critical components and other materials used. If unauthorised changes are made to the product, the certificate will be withdrawn and the TÜV SÜD certification mark may no longer be used.
Pure natural ethanol
In addition, the bioethanol was produced from waste no longer suitable for consumption by humans and animals. This waste can include bread/pasta, potato peels, sugar-containing residues and other substances.
Quality tested
Within the scope of regular factory inspections, TÜV SÜD Product Service tests the raw materials and assesses the production and quality control of bioethanol, documenting the results.
