  • Production and Service Provision:

    This topic has the most additions in AS9100, due to it being specific to the aerospace industry. These changes include production processes, as well as required controls on production equipment and post-delivery support.
  • Planning for Product Realization:

    AS9100 has additional requirements pertaining to project, risk, and configuration management of the products and control of work transfers. Risk identification and assessment are also detailed throughout the standard since risk is critical to the aerospace industry.

  • AC 00-56B
    Voluntary Industry Distributor Accreditation Program

     

    What is AC 00-56B?

    AC 00-56B is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circular that sets quality system standards for aircraft parts distributors.

    It requires voluntary certification to ensure parts traceability, documentation, and reliability in the aerospace supply chain. AC 00-56B helps reduce counterfeit risks, strengthens supplier accountability, and supports regulatory compliance in aviation safety. 

    This circular outlines the Voluntary Industry Distributor Accreditation Program, a system designed for accrediting civil aircraft parts distributors through voluntary industry oversight. The primary goal of this program is to assist certified entities in establishing the eligibility of parts and products for installation on U.S. certified aircraft.  

    While the program is not mandatory, the FAA strongly endorses participation. Distributors who choose to participate must adhere to the processes and procedures detailed in the circular to be considered compliant.
