WHAT IS THE SAUDI PRODUCT SAFETY PROGRAM (SALEEM) SCHEME?

The Saudi Product Safety Program (SALEEM) for Saudi Arabia is facilitated by SASO. The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has implemented SABER, the Saudi Product Safety Program's digital platform, to register consumer products imported or locally manufactured to receive the required certification. SABER streamlines the process of obtaining product and shipment certificates for goods under SASO technical regulations.

The Saudi Product Safety Program includes two stages of the certification process: Product Certification (PCoC) and Shipment Certification (SCoC) of Regulated Products imported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

To facilitate this certification process, SASO has approved Conformity Assessment Bodies such as TÜV SÜD PSB to issue the Product Certificate of Conformity (Product CoC) and Shipment Certificate of Conformity (Shipment CoC) for Regulated Products for Asia and Australia region.

TÜV SÜD PSB is approved by SASO for the Regulated Products as follows:

  • Textile Products
  • Telecommunications Devices
  • Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing
  • Paints (Pigments) and Varnishes
  • Lubricating Oils
  • Food safety in tools and appliances used in the kitchen
  • Electrical Batteries
  • Detergents
  • Building Materials - Part 1: The Sectors of Metals and their Alloys for Buildings and Constructions
  • Auto Spare Parts
  • Restriction of use of hazardous certain substances in electrical and electronic
  • Gulf Technical Regulation for Children's Toys
  • GCC Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances – GMARK (GCC)
  • Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances

WHY IS THE SAUDI PRODUCT SAFETY SCHEME (SALEEM) IMPORTANT?

These Technical Regulations aim to identify products with similar characteristics and list all the requirements applicable to these products under one regulation. The primary objective of this regulation is to safeguard consumers from non-conforming or hazardous products, ensuring products comply with the regulatory requirements. Products within the scope of these Technical Regulations are termed as Regulated Products. The Technical Regulations issued by SASO include various product certification schemes in accordance with the ISO/IEC 17067 standard.
