The Oman Energy Efficiency Registering & Labelling (EER) program is established by the Directorate General for Standards and Metrology (DGSM), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) in the Sultanate of Oman, to promote energy-efficient appliances in the country by informing consumers about the energy use of various products.
The scheme applies to manufacturers who export specific appliances to Oman, including:
These manufacturers are required to register their products with the DGSM and affix an Energy Efficiency Rating label on each registered product. The label provides consumers with information about the product's energy efficiency, allowing them to make informed choices when purchasing appliances.
The Oman Energy Efficiency Labelling Scheme empowers consumers to choose appliances that save them money and the environment. Clear energy usage information on labels leads to lower electricity bills and a smaller national carbon footprint. The scheme also pushes manufacturers to develop more efficient appliances, giving consumers even more eco-friendly options. By setting clear standards, it ensures fair competition and discourages less efficient imports. This program is crucial for promoting responsible energy use and a sustainable future for Oman.
Meeting Oman's Energy Efficiency Labeling requirements can be a smooth process with the right support. TÜV SÜD PSB, a Notified Body designated by the Directorate General for Standards and Metrology (DGSM), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) in the Sultanate of Oman, have the relevant experience and testing capabilities to guide manufacturers through the process.
