WHAT IS COATINGS TESTING?

Coatings are essential to protect surfaces, especially to those subjected heavily to wear and tear processes in any given environment. The quality of coatings are important considerations when producing products with high performance and avoiding product failures. It is important to test and assess their performance in different environments.

The main purposes of coatings are twofold, namely for its aesthetics and protection capabilities. Coatings can enhance the surface properties of the substrate in particular its appearance, adhesion, resistance to corrosion, wear, scratch etc. It can also protect the surface against external climatic conditions such as temperature, sunlight, radiation, humidity, rainfall, and even gaseous pollutants.
