What is packaging testing?

Product packaging must be sturdy enough to withstand the rigours of transportation and environmental conditions, while remaining durable, safe, and convenient for end users. Packaging material testing services from TÜV SÜD ensure this. They comprise a range of tests designed to assess the suitability of packaging materials for use with a given product. We have the expertise to help you with the complete range of these tests.

Why packaging testing is important

Testing of packaging materials assures that your packaging will protect your product from damage or degradation during transportation and distribution. Packaging material testing can also reduce your packaging costs by identifying appropriate protection levels and reducing the amount of packaging materials used.

How TÜV SÜD can help you with packaging testing

TÜV SÜD offers a full range of services for packaging testing that replicates the mechanical and climatic conditions that products may encounter during transportation and storage.

Our experts possess up to date knowledge of packaging testing methods and packaging testing standards.  Comprehensive testing of packaging materials helps us determine a product’s susceptibility to damage so that an appropriate level of packaging protection is used.

We can also provide advice on possible cost savings through the removal of excess or unnecessary product packaging.

Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier (APASS)

TÜV SÜD Singapore is an official member of the Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier (APASS) network, created to help vendors and manufacturers obtain testing and certification for their product packaging.

Our ISTA-certified lab is approved by Amazon to test and certify product packaging as Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP), Ships-In-Own-Container (SIOC) and Prep-Free Packaging (PFP) for Amazon and their third-party vendors. Complying to these certification, vendors and manufacturers can save on packaging cost and reduce the amount of chargeback from Amazon.
