Smart lift monitoring and Iot Monitoring

Ensure lift reliability through smart monitoring

Ensure lift reliability through smart monitoring

What is the TÜV SÜD lift monitoring service?

The TÜV SÜD lift monitoring service provides continuous, independent oversight of lift performance using IoT monitoring sensors and AI analytics. Data from any lift brand or age is monitored to detect early signs of wear or malfunction, helping building operators improve safety, reliability, and maintenance efficiency.

How does Smart lifts work?

sensor kits iconLift sensors are installed to monitor lift health - Our expertise in functional safety for lift operation and lift service maintenance ensure that the locations of the lift sensors are carefully selected and safely integrated.

algoritm iconThe high accuracy smart lift AI model analyses lift data to identify possible issues with the lift before failure - The high accuracy smart lift model is based on more than 30 years of lift inspection and certification experience, with more than 300,000 inspections performed each year.

FAQS

  • Can TÜV SÜD lift monitoring be used on existing lifts?

Yes. TÜV SÜD’s lift monitoring solution works with existing lifts of any brand, model, or installation age. Each lift is calibrated during setup to ensure accurate analysis and reliable results. This flexibility makes it ideal for mixed-brand portfolios or multi-building facilities seeking unified monitoring.

  • Are any adjustments required for the smart lift analytics model to work with different lifts or buildings?

Each lift will be calibrated once during installation to take into consideration the lift and building profile. This is to avoid unnecessary alerts and to allow the AI analysis model to work on any lifts regardless of the age, model, brand and installation.

  • What type of sensors are used in Lift Manager?

MEMS sensors are being used to identify the lift movement and other operational profiles. High accuracy 3 – axis accelerometers are used to capture the lifts travel profile; from this acceleration data when mapped against time, then the speed of the lift and travel distance can be calculated. The travel comfort of the lift can also be assed in line with International Standards, highlighting potential issues and a deterioration in travel comfort, or emergency stops events. Magnetic proximity switches are mounted on the door operator, from these door sensors then the position of the doors can be assessed. The machine learning algorithms can assess the sensor data and flag up anomalies as they occur.

  • Are there cyber security concerns for adopting Lift Manager as the data are transmitted to the cloud?

There are minimal cyber security concerns as the devices installed on the car top will be authenticated for all transmission of lift data onto the cloud. The transmitted lift data can also be encrypted without data loss. In addition, the sensors and devices installed for the smart lift monitoring solution are completely isolated from the lift components. Hence, it will not pose safety issue to the lift operation.
