Blue light ratio is a ′relative concept′ in evaluating the blue light content of a product. Since the blue light ratio of sunlight is around 25 while the and blue light ratio of general white light LEDs is around 35%, the blue light ratio in the low blue light mode(s) of displays or low blue light products is expected to be lower than the blue light ratio of sunlight. Thus a blue light ratio ≤ 25% is the minimum requirement. The grating of blue light ratio will be based on the test result.

Low blue light mode is the display mode which may be declared by manufacturers to satisfy all requirements of blue light ratio.
′(RG0)’ means the display is classified as an exempt group product against the IEC/EN 62471 testing at 200 mm test distance at which no optical hazard is considered reasonably foreseeable, even for continuous, unrestricted use.
′Long-term use’ means the product may be assessed at the maximum exposure duration representative for the application-specific conditions of foreseeable use (viewer-related risk). Most displays are designed for intentional long-term viewing and intended viewing time may exceed 10,000 s (about 2.8 h), requirements for the exempt group (RG0) shall be satisfied when no optical hazard is considered reasonably foreseeable, even for continuous, unrestricted use.
The voluntary certification mark with the statement „Type tested“ is issued for products and components. The certification mark demonstrates that the product/component was tested and certified by the independent third-party organisation of TÜV SÜD Product Service for conformity with the essential technical safety requirements. The certification criteria vary depending on the products in question.
Periodic surveillance and/or monitoring of the manufacture of a product constitutes the basic premise for certification that includes the award of a certification mark. Certification always requires product testing and regular factory inspections.
As a third-party expert organisation, TÜV SÜD Product Service verifies that the manufacturer is able to maintain consistent quality in line with the requirements throughout high-volume production and has established the necessary quality system, including incoming goods inspections, lists of materials and final product testing.
In addition, calibration of the necessary measuring and monitoring equipment must be ensured. Surveillance and/or monitoring covers the testing of safety-critical components and other materials used. If unauthorised changes are made to the product, the certificate will become invalid and the TÜV SÜD certification mark may no longer be used.
