Japan MIC certification

Before radio and telecommunication products can be marketed in Japan, the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) must approve them according to Japanese Radio Law (Law No 131, 1950). This includes commercial and consumer products that use frequencies for communication, covering a range of industries from consumer electronics to specialised industrial applications. These products need to meet stringent standards for safety, frequency use, and interference control. Japanese radio law is an essential requirement for entry to the Japanese market for these applicable products.

TÜV SÜD BABT was formed as the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications (BABT) in 1982 and has since become one of the world’s leading telecommunications Certification Bodies. It was the first Registered Foreign Conformity Assessment Body for radio productsunder the EU-Japan Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), enabling fast access to the Japanese market. TÜV SÜD BABT can issue Conformity Assessment Certificates on behalf of MIC in Japan, on satisfactory completion of a detailed technical review process. This means products certified by TÜV SÜD BABT in one region (EU or Japan) are recognised as compliant in the other region without needing to be tested twice for both markets.

• Low Power Radio – (25 & 27 GNz) Item (19)-4 of Article 2 of the Radio Ordinance.
• Low Power Land Mobile – Item (19)-13 of Article 2 of the Radio Ordinance.
• DECT Cordless – Item (21) of Article 2 of the Radio Ordinance
• Personal Handyphone System – Item (22) of Article 2 of the Radio Ordinance.
• Mobile DSRC – Item (32) of Article 2 of the Radio Ordinance.
