What is the EMC Directive?

The EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) aims to ensure that any electrical and electronic equipment functions satisfactorily in their electromagnetic environment without introducing intolerable electromagnetic disturbance to anything in that environment. The directive also requires that equipment does not interfere with the use and operation of other equipment.

By ensuring that products imported into the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) are electromagnetically compatible, the directive facilities the free movement of such equipment within the internal market.

TÜV SÜD’s CE EMC certification helps your device to continue to function as expected in the intended EMC environment.

Why the EMC Directive is important

In the EU and EEA, the majority of electronic and electrical products must comply with the EMC Directive, as well as other applicable regulations, before they can carry the CE marking and be sold. Compliance is therefore essential if your electronics brand wishes to reach over 500 million EU consumers.
