TÜV SÜD certification marks are among the best-known of their kind in Germany. The blue octagon is associated with credibility, neutrality, competence and reliability. This positive image is based on high standards and high quality of our certifications. This philosophy is embedded in our company’s principles and is the basis for each and every one of our services.
We award the TÜV SÜD certification marks to companies whose management systems have been successfully certified by us. Only those who have passed the certification process successfully and have a valid certificate are entitled to use our certification marks for advertising puposes.
Certifications of TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH are usually audits of processes within a management system. A management system describes management tasks and combines methods and tools to meet the requirements of specific areas (for example quality, environmental protection, occupational safety, etc.). The management system is used to operate and control the company. Products or services of the respective company are not examined within the scope of such audits. Certifications of management systems help companies to optimize their internal processes and the entire organization leading to a process of continuous improvement.
TÜV SÜD gives out validation and verification marks to companies after assessing and confirming the claims they make. These marks show that a company's statements have been checked and confirmed by TÜV SÜD. Companies can use these marks in their advertisements.
Validation and verification services make sure that information declared by a company is trustworthy and reliable. The services are provided by following generic requirements given by ISO/IEC 17029 and specific validation and verification programmes which determine rules, procedures and management for carrying out the validation and verification activities. The marks help companies show that they're transparent and provide truthful and plausible claims and information.

TÜV SÜD certification marks and validation and verification marks are different from the TÜV SÜD company logo.
The main difference is that certification marks and validation and verification marks always mention the specific standards and requirements the company has met. These are shown within a blue octagon symbol.
Only companies that have been successfully certified or whose claims have been validated and verified can use these marks for advertising. The TÜV SÜD company logo, on the other hand, is only for companies within the TÜV SÜD Group.
