As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to make headlines, the need to manage its ethical implications has become paramount not only for organizations developing and utilizing AI systems, but for society as a whole. TÜV SÜD's AI experts have now been recognized as the first authorized Lead Assessors for ethical AI, according to the IEEE's CertifAIEdTM programme. Earlier this year TÜV SÜD and IEEE SA, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association, announced a strategic partnership for developing standards, training and certification programmes addressing all aspects of AI.
IEEE's CertifAIEdTM is a pioneering certification programme designed to assess the ethical aspects of AI systems. It affirms that products meet ethical requirements, promotes responsible adoption, and builds trust in this disruptive technology. IEEE SA further advocates for consideration of ethics in the design of AI systems by providing free access to AI ethics and governance standards here: https://standards.ieee.org/news/get-program-ai-ethics/.
The recognition of TÜV SÜD's AI experts as the first authorized Lead Assessors by IEEE's CertifAIEdTM programme represents a significant milestone in our collective journey towards more ethical adoption of AI technologies. TÜV SÜD's AI experts will now use their deep understanding of AI to guide organisations through the IEEE CertifAIEdTM programme as trainers and assessors. TÜV SÜD experts cover all relevant AI quality aspects, including safety, security, legal, ethical, performance and sustainability, and supports companies in setting up an AI quality management system to systematically ensure better quality and track compliance with requirements.
TÜV SÜD offers a host of AI specific services that support organisations in their journey to develop and adopt AI applications that are compliant with applicable regulations, standards, and best practices. The services include a range of AI Quality Management training courses (more information and booking here: https://www.tuvsud.com/en/themes/artificial-intelligence/training) and assessments. An AI Quality Readiness Analysis reviews the extent to which organisations are already in compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and identifies areas where there is still need for action. The output is a risk profile for an AI application and analysis of the organizational maturity to meet the relevant quality requirements.
