TÜV SÜD has announced the acquisition of Carspect Group Holding AB. The Stockholm-based group operates more than 150 test centres for periodic technical inspections of vehicles (PTIs) and other associated vehicle-related inspection services in Sweden, Latvia and Estonia.
“The acquisition of Carspect is a further step in our internationalisation strategy”, says Patrick Fruth, CEO Division Mobility TÜV SÜD, and affirms, “It gives us access to three key markets with high growth potential. In addition, Carspect’s dynamic, entrepreneurial concept, with test centres convenient for its customers and an innovative process for digital customer journeys, is an excellent fit for our own approach at TÜV SÜD.”
Following the liberalization of the PTI market in Sweden in 2010, Carspect has built an organically growing network of test centres and expanded further through acquisitions in Estonia and Latvia. The company has 118 stations and more than 300 employees in Sweden; across Estonia and Latvia, Carspect has 34 stations and more than 150 employees.
“We are delighted to join the TÜV SÜD Group. As part of TÜV SÜD, a strong player in the market for vehicle surveillance with a wealth of international experience, we will be able to leverage synergies and jointly continue our dynamic growth trajectory in northern Europe”, said Markus Falk, CEO Carspect Group.
With the acquisition of Carspect, TÜV SÜD now has presence in the PTI market in nine countries. In addition to its home market of Germany, TÜV SÜD’s testing and inspection experts are already providing PTI services in Türkiye, Spain, Austria, Slovakia and South Africa.
