Thailand: New Safety Standard for Robotic Battery-Powered Lawnmowers

In force (since 09 September 2026)

On 8 September 2026, Thailand's Ministry of Industry announced the establishment of TIS 60335 Part 2(107)-2569, a new industrial standard specifying safety requirements for robotic battery-powered electrical lawnmowers.

The standard sets out requirements covering product safety, construction, marking, user instructions, and testing procedures for battery-powered rotary robotic lawnmowers and related equipment operating at a rated battery voltage not exceeding 75 V DC. It also includes provisions for associated charging stations, perimeter boundary signal generators, and lithium-ion battery charging systems.

The standard applies to robotic battery-powered lawnmowers but excludes:

  • Machines powered by internal combustion engines;

  • Fuel-cell-powered or hybrid-powered machines;

  • Products using non-rechargeable batteries, except where specifically addressed in Annex KK;

  • Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements;

  • Environmental aspects other than noise; and

  • Machines manufactured before publication of the corresponding IEC standard.

The announcement entered into force on 9 September 2026.
