Refrigeration systems or heat pumps incorporating at least one item of pressure equipment, which is to be classified in category II or higher according to the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU, are always assemblies as defined in the PED. This applies, for example, to a refrigerant receiver or a heat exchanger. Such refrigeration systems or heat pumps – in the form of an assembly – require the involvement of a notified body in the manufacturing stage.
