Hygiene inspection VDI 6022

Many modern infrastructures, such as places of assembly, restaurants, underground car parks and office buildings, require hygiene inspections according to VDI 6022- The code of practice for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems and units (HVAC systems). This is very important as inadequate hygiene in HVAC systems creates ideal breeding-grounds for micro-organisms, causing irritation to mucous membranes, headaches, lack of concentration, asthma, allergies and even infections.

The law demands HVAC systems to be planned and operated in a manner that prevents any health hazards or negative impacts on the users well-being. The relevant requirements are set forth in various guidelines and standards, in particular VDI 6022. Our experts support the owners and manufacturers of HVAC systems in meeting the requirements of the guideline.

The benefits of our HYGIENE INSPECTION, certification and TRAINING OF HVAC SYSTEMS ACCORDING TO VDI 6022

  • Attain compliance with all VDI criteria
  • Leverage on TÜV SÜD long-standing experience with initial and periodic inspections
  • Consideration of all hygiene-related requirements
  • Optimisation your HVAC systems
  • Expert support with the operation of your HVAC system
  • Improved health of users based on the use of flawlessly hygienic HVAC systems

HYGIENE INSPECTION OF HVAC SYSTEMS ACCORDING TO VDI 6022

Under the German Regulation on Health and Safety in the Use of Work Equipment (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung, BetrSichV) and/or the German Workplace Safety and Health Regulation (Arbeitsstättenverordnung, ArbStättV), the owners of HVAC systems shall inspect the functions of their systems at regular intervals. The objective of these inspections is to prove that the safety of the air supplied and the operation of the HVAC systems. In VDI 6022, these inspections are called “hygiene inspections”. Hygiene inspections must be carried out when the system is first taken into service and thereafter periodically every 2 years (for HVAC systems with air humidifier) or 3 years (for HVAC systems without air humidifier).

HYGIENE TRAINING FOR PERSONNEL ACCORDING TO VDI 6022

Individuals who have passed hygiene training according to VDI 6022, Part 4, Category B are qualified to perform servicing, inspection and maintenance of HVAC systems. In our hygiene training according to VDI 6022, Part 4, Category B, trainees will be familiarised with the hygiene requirements for HVAC systems and the necessary hygiene inspections. The trainees will also be qualified to carry out the activities of the “Hygiene Checks” independently.

Assessment of HVAC SYSTEMS ACCORDING TO VDI 6022

HVAC systems in buildings with particular hygiene requirements (e.g. hospitals) must meet special design-related requirements. Our experts support manufacturers and assess HVAC systems, components, materials, the design implementation and the suitability for the specified purpose on the basis of VDI 6022.
