Adopt a holistic approach to ensuring the safety and quality of electric vehicles
To meet the growing demand for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV), automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers around the world are exploring new territory in electric powertrain technology. Due to the new components and testing procedures involved in electric powertrains, automotive developers need strong technical support to ensure that their designs are safe, meet international regulatory standards and fulfil customer requirements. E-mobility vehicle services help to safeguard the electrical, mechanical, chemical and functional safety of the technologies involved in electric powertrains.
By working together with an independent third party service provider you gain multiple benefits:
TÜV SÜD has extensive expertise in mobility solutions. We provide the full scope of services to help you meet the safety requirements of electric vehicles. Our testing solutions cover all aspects of design and development. From the functional and mechanical safety of the powertrain to the electrical safety of the high-voltage systems to the chemical safety of energy devices such as batteries. We also look at critical areas like failure safety, accidental electric shock protection and power availability. Hereby, our solutions can be customised based on the needs of our customers and their focus markets.
Beyond test services, our experts can help your organisation streamline its electric vehicle development processes. We have developed a complete suite of analysis methods that can help your team through the design, development and verification of safety concepts. Our suite of vehicle services even extends to developing systems to address workplace hazards and the handling of electrical storage systems.
TÜV SÜD offers the following services:
The eSafety concept offers holistic support for the fulfillment of safety requirements. The concept takes into account all safety aspects of electrical vehicle development such as electrical, mechanical, chemical and functional safety
Evaluation of safety concept and requirements as well as of entire safety lifecycle, analyses (e.g. FMEA)
Evaluation of abuse tests
Analysis techniques (ISO 26262/IEC 61508)
Functional safety management
Risk assessment, system concept design, development
Analytics / probabilistic
Test and test reports
The TÜV SÜD e-Car Cycle (TSECC) puts an additional dimension to the conventional evaluation range (different climate conditions). In the TSECC, electric vehicles have to run at different temperature conditions ranging from 7°C to 35°C (19°F to 95°F). At this extreme condition the vehicle needs additional energy for heating and cooling. The TSECC provides evidence that the electric vehicles also perform well under harsh conditions.
