Can a data protection audit be part of a data protection consultation?

Yes, a data protection audit can be part of a data protection consultation. As part of a data protection audit, we check whether your organisation is complying with data protection requirements according to GDPR. A data protection audit can include the entire company or be focused on sub-areas, such as a department or a product or service. A successfully passed audit confirms compliance with the current data protection regulations. What is the difference between service and order processing?

The answer requires an understanding of the definitions of data protection law: Every commissioned processing is a service, but not every service is commissioned processing. What does that mean?

From a data protection point of view, order processing is a special type of service: You have outsourced processing to service providers because your company cannot provide these services independently or only with great effort. It is important to note that at the core of the service, personal data is processed by the service provider.

As a controller, you want to determine as accurately as possible how the personal data is processed during this outsourcing.
