There are 55 earthquakes per day around the world. Approximately 16 per year are classified as major earthquakes (7.0 magnitude or above). A 2020 earthquake in Puerto Rico led to at least $3 billion in damage. The 2011 Fukushima earthquake and tsunami cost $46 billion.
