EMC Test Plan for Medical Devices 101

On-Demand Webinar

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing gauges the medical device’s capability to function as it should in the electromagnetic environment it is in, without an intolerable electromagnetic reaction. We quite often get feedback from medical device clients that there is some confusion with IEC 60601-1-2 4th ed requirements for test plans. For this webinar, we will address the following topics:

  • What is the purpose of an EMC test plan and why does the IEC 60601-1-2 4th ed require it?
  • We will provide an example of a test plan template and mock example of an actual plan.
  • What is essential performance and why is it important to monitor during testing?
  • Wireless modules (rules governing their integration in US, and EU)
  • What are the additional FCC/ISED Canada rules for home use medical products?
  • CISPR 11 Classification of medical devices.
