Independent Risk Assessments

Why We Acquired Aon U.S. Field Services

Date: 12 Jan 2026

By Greg Bates, President & CEO, Global Risk Consultants

We have some exciting news to share. Global Risk Consultants has acquired the U.S. Field Services business of Aon’s Property Risk Control Practice, a property risk engineering group whose work aligns closely with the kind of technical and practical risk engineering we provide. The move strengthens our capabilities in a meaningful way and supports the long-term growth of our business.

I want to take a moment to explain why we made this decision, and what it means for the companies that trust us to help protect their people, operations, and assets.

Why We Made This Move

High-quality, independent property risk engineering has never been more critical. Facilities are more complex. Risks evolve faster. And the property insurance market increasingly expects detailed data, well-documented risks, and strong engineering insights behind every submission.

At the same time, our industry continues to feel the strain of a prolonged talent shortage. Experienced engineers trained in fire protection, machinery breakdown, and electrical protection are increasingly difficult to find and develop.

When the opportunity arose to bring Aon’s U.S. Field Services team into GRC, it made sense. Their mission aligns perfectly with what GRC is known for: rigorous engineering work that helps companies reduce risk before a loss occurs. The addition of Aon U.S. Field Services deepens our bench in many key industries while helping us continue to grow responsibly.

What Aon U.S. Field Services Brings to GRC

At the end of the day, every strategic decision we make comes back to one question: Does this help our clients?

In this case, the answer is a definitive yes.

Twenty full-time engineers are joining GRC. They’ll bring added manpower, more flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to support broader client needs across our entire portfolio. It’s about ensuring we continue to have the capacity, depth, and resilience to serve clients reliably as demand for independent risk engineering grows.

Growing our team positions us to continue delivering high-quality inspections, recommendations, and risk data while maintaining the rigorous standards clients expect from GRC.

How This Strengthens GRC’s Long-Term Strategy

This acquisition fits squarely within our strategy to grow both organically and inorganically. At the heart of that strategy is a simple belief: Investing in people is the best way to strengthen the value we deliver.

We’re committed to being the world’s most trusted independent property risk engineering firm. That means continually strengthening the depth, expertise, and responsiveness of our teams. It means making smart, targeted investments in talent and technical capability. And it means staying ahead of the evolving needs of the organizations we serve.

This acquisition is one more step in that journey.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited about what this means for the future of GRC and for the companies we serve. With a broader, more flexible engineering team, we’re well-positioned to continue helping organizations improve resilience, reduce losses, and navigate an increasingly complex property risk environment.

Thank you for trusting us. As always, we’ll continue to invest in ways that help us deliver the best experience, the best engineering, and the best outcomes for our clients.
