As a global leader in technical training and certification, TÜV SÜD Academy has partnered with Wayne State University (WSU) to address the urgent need for high voltage (HV) and electric vehicle (EV) safety training in the United States by launching a comprehensive High Voltage Safety Training Program.

As the automotive industry accelerates towards electrification, the demand for qualified professionals trained in high-voltage (HV) systems is growing rapidly. The High Voltage Safety Training Program is a three-level certification program developed by TÜV SÜD Academy and specifically tailored for individuals working with or around EV high-voltage systems. It covers everything from awareness training to the qualifications required for live work on energized components. The training targets industry personnel working in or transitioning to HV and EV solutions, as well as students and professionals aspiring to enter these fields.

"This program is more than just training – it's a critical workforce solution," said Victor Chavez, Director, Business Assurance of TÜV SÜD's Americas region. "Our goal is to equip the current and future workforce with the knowledge and safety practices needed to support the EV transition safely and effectively."

Workforce Impact in Detroit and Beyond

Through this initiative, Wayne State University will become a leading training hub, supporting Detroit's transformation into a global hub for mobility innovation. The partnership directly aligns with Michigan's broader economic and workforce development goals by building a local talent pipeline with specialized skills in EVs and high-voltage technologies, and by providing WSU students with access to TÜV SÜD's globally recognized certification.

The training will enhance career opportunities for the community and support workforce development in the ongoing regional transition to electric vehicles. It will help build a skilled workforce in high-voltage safety, thereby reinforcing Detroit's position as a leader in EV and mobility innovation.
