TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory has completed the investment and upgrade of its water flow testing facility.
The new facility will enable global water utility companies, meter manufacturers and energy operators to assess flow meter performance more accurately, as part of their strategy to deliver more effective, economic and sustainable resource management.
Congratulations to Dale Anderson for completing a Postgraduate Certificate of Professional Development (PgCertPD) in Hydrogen Safety at Ulster University.
Dale is the Gas Networks Lead at TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory. His primary responsibility is technical ownership of the Hydrogen Domestic Gas Meter Calibration facility, which includes being the knowledge-based reference point for the facility.
Are you looking for an opportunity to present your work on technical innovation in flow measurement to a global audience of flow measurement specialists?
The Workshop Technical Committee is now interested in receiving papers representing all aspects of flow measurement, uncertainty and quality improvement, which fit with the Workshop’s theme of technical innovation in flow measurement on the road to net zero.
Each month, we share our expertise related to a specific flow measurement theme. This month, our flow focus is on Clean Energy.

In this report, prepared on behalf of the Institute of Measurement and Control, Dr Chris Mills discusses the role of flow measurement in CCUS. He also highlights the need for CO2 flow measurement facilities capable of traceable flow calibrations of gas phase, liquid/dense phase and supercritical phase CO2 that replicate
An important step in achieving the target of net zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 will be the decarbonisation of heat. This webinar will explain the challenges around flow measurement of hydrogen and hydrogen/natural gas mixtures and the expectations of consumers.
The accurate determination of the CO2-rich and hydrogen containing streams phase envelope and respective thermophysical properties using thermodynamic models would be essential to optimally predict and model the phase behaviour during transportation, conduct accurate flow measurement and ultimately control the processes throughout the CCS and hydrogen value chains.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) offers solutions and insights for companies working on the energy transition. This webinar introduces CFD and explores some of its applications related to clean fuels and green projects.
This Guidance Note highlights the challenges and needs associated with the measurement of CO2 through the CCS chain and provides an overview of flowmetering technologies that are suitable for CCS applications.

This webinar provides an introduction to control valves, and explores the various topics related to evaluating their performance. It gives a brief overview of the different types of control valve and the characteristics of each design.
Hosted by Tariq Boussouara, a project engineer at TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory. He is the technical lead for wet and dry gas calibrations and for valve flow testing.
