• 1954: Johann Lütolf develops tests for flammability, dust explosion potential, and impact sensitivity for J.R. Geigy AG.
• 1970: Introduction of reaction calorimetry to measure and analyze heat development in chemical reactions.
• 1996: Merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz to form Novartis, outsourcing of safety laboratories and experts.
