    Regulatory agency

    Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), Ministry of Industry

    Regulations

    • Products regulated under the Industrial Product Standards Act are required to be affixed with the TISI Mark, QR codes should be applied for all certified products.
    • Products under the mandatory list need to comply with TIS standards and factory quality control system requirements before affixing the mandatory TISI Mark (red colour).
    • Assessment of quality control system usually involves a factory inspection.
    • Testing of product samples need to be performed by accredited or approved test laboratories.
    • Other products may also obtain the voluntary TISI Mark (blue colour).

    • A Local Representative is required for application.

    Approval procedure:

    • Submission of application.

  • Energy Efficiency

    Regulatory agency

    Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI), Ministry of Industry (MEPS) Thailand Environment Institute (Green Label) Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Electricity Saving Label Project No. 5)

    Regulations

    • Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) are required for certain products. The certification schemes include mandatory and voluntary certification options for different product classes.

    • Electricity Saving Label Project No. 5 program is recognised among consumers as a designation of energy efficiency on various products. The labelling of appliances is the responsibility of EGAT, which has labelled typical household appliances.
    • The Green Label is an environmental certification on a voluntary basis awarded to specific products that are shown to have minimum detrimental impact on the environment, in comparison with other products serving the same function.

    Guidelines

    • Manufacturers are required to test products for labelling.

    Applicable product categories

    • MEPS (mandatory): Air conditioners, refrigerators, ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps, clothes washing machines

  • Telecom & Wireless

    Regulatory agency

    National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC)

    Regulations

    • Equipment which falls under the mandatory scope requires NBTC approval.
    • There are 3 types of equipment classification with different types of Conformity Assessment procedures:
      1. Class A equipment requires testing by the office of NBTC, certification from NBTC and labelling.
        Class A
      2. Class B equipment follows the same procedure as Class A but NBTC accepts test reports based on international test standards* (FCC, ETSI/EN) by an accredited test laboratory.
        Class B
      3. SDoC equipment requires an issuance of a DoC to NBTC, labelling is not required.
    • Products with Class A or Class B must be marked with NBTC mark.
    • Local suppliers can apply permission from NBTC for self-labelling by printing or using electronic label.

    EMC:

    • EMC compliance is required for the above, where applicable.

    * International test standards include FCC, ETSI/EN standards.

    Guidelines

    • A local representative is required.

    Approval procedure for Class A and B:

    • Submission of application.
    • Type approval based on testing of sample (Class A), or recognition of test report (Class B).
    • Obtain NBTC approval.
    • Label products appropriately.

    DoC procedure:

    • Submit DoC, test report and essential documents to NBTC for approval.

    Applicable product categories

    • Class A equipment: GMPCS/ microwave fixed links;
    • Class B equipment: High-power RFID/ Vehicle radar, maritime/aeronautical, land mobile VHF/UHF
    • SDoC equipment: Telecommunications terminal equipment, WLAN/radio control, low power device/short range devices
