This course, Foundations of Due Diligence in the Supply Chain, offers a comprehensive introduction to the legal, normative, and practical aspects of supply chain due diligence. Designed by TÜV SÜD Academy, the training equips professionals with the knowledge and tools to identify, prevent, and mitigate risks related to human rights and environmental standards across complex global value chains.

Participants will gain a solid understanding of key international frameworks and regulations, including the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG), and emerging European directives such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the Battery Regulation (EUBR), and the Regulation for Deforestation-Free Products (EUDR). These instruments require companies to embed due diligence into their strategies and management systems, conduct systematic risk analyses, implement preventive measures, and ensure transparent reporting and disclosure.

The course content is structured to provide both theoretical foundations and practical insights. Topics include risk identification and assessment, mitigation strategies, grievance mechanisms, and documentation requirements. Through interactive instructor-led sessions, group discussions, and real-world case studies, participants will explore implementation practices and learn to recognize “red flags” that signal potential compliance or ethical issues. Special emphasis is placed on supporting measures that facilitate the practical application of due diligence steps within diverse organizational contexts.

This training is ideal for sustainability and ESG professionals, supply chain and procurement managers, compliance and legal officers, and CSR or risk management specialists. Basic knowledge of sustainability or supply chain management is recommended but not required.

Instructor-led training sessions are conducted in a virtual classroom. This means the course is Live Online. Participants will learn through online teaching. Lectures, case studies, group exercises, discussions, problem solving, examples with explanation, assignments and/or quizzes happen in the virtual classroom training. Participants need to connect to the class from any internet accessible location. Each module is delivered live using webinar technology, creating a virtual classroom learning environment. Live sessions provide you with direct access to the trainer so you can ask questions, understand complex concepts and share ideas with peers. Webcam and microphone are REQUIRED to interact with the instructor and/or other participants.
