Detect the presence of asbestos in your products
Detect the presence of asbestos in your products
Asbestos has been used commonly in everyday products including homes, schools, buildings, and industrial locations due to its fibre strength and heat resistant properties. However, when asbestos- containing materials are damaged, the inhalation of asbestos fibres can cause serious illnesses such as lung cancer, mesothelioma and asbestosis.
In order to improve the health and safety of the general public, many countries have banned the use of asbestos in repair, renovation and refurbishment activities. The extraction, manufacture and processing of asbestos products are also banned. Asbestos may also be found in specific materials used in industries such as construction, shipbuilding, chemical and automobiles
TÜV SÜD utilises internationally accepted test standards and methodologies to detect the presence, type and quantity of asbestos. The results enable building or ship owners, building contractors, etc to take the necessary precautionary measures to comply with Workplace Safety and Health Council regulations and the National Environment Agency (NEA) requirements, among others.
TÜV SÜD laboratories are accredited under the SAC (Singapore Accreditation Council) to ISO 17025 requirements.
