WHAT IS ACCELERATED CORROSION TESTING?

TÜV SÜD provides accelerated corrosion and electrochemical testing services in accordance with ASTM and BS standards as well as customized corrosion testing services. Electrochemical and corrosion tests are useful in helping industries meet local and overseas product and process requirements, estimate product service life, compare the environmental performance of materials and assess suitability of materials under the expected conditions of use.

In an accelerated corrosion test, corrosion, degradation or failure of materials and products is induced without change in corrosion mechanism(s) in a reasonably shorter time period than that conducted under normal conditions. Electrochemical measurements are carried out in the simulation experiment and surface analysis techniques are employed to determine corrosion rate and compare the corrosion condition with specification.

  •  Half-Cell Potential, a rapid testing of the resistance to Cl penetration

Resistance to cathodic disbonding of coatings
