Process safety programs that go beyond regulatory needs and contribute to your organization’s overall effectiveness

Balancing high levels of safety that comply with regulations with profitability is a very challenging task for chemical process facilities or other facilities dealing with hazardous materials. TÜV SÜD Global Risk Consultants (GRC) helps you to develop and manage an effective process safety program that will help your business to achieve this balance.

WHAT IS PROCESS SAFETY?

Process safety programs work to prevent fires, explosions and releases in chemical process facilities, or facilities that handle hazardous waste by providing a regimented framework for maintaining operating systems and processes that handle these substances. Process safety programs usually include a variety of components including mechanical integrity of equipment, inspection and testing, addressing human element hazards, training programs, and more.

WHY SHOULD MY BUSINESS BE CONCERNED WITH PROCESS SAFETY?

In 1984, a pesticide plant in Bhopal, India released almost 40 tons of toxic chemicals into the atmosphere. This accident led to thousands of fatalities, hundreds of injuries and decades of health, environmental and financial impacts. Due to what is considered by many to be one of the worst industrial disasters in history, process safety standards and programs have been developed to avoid such disasters.

Due to incidents such as these, the chemical processing sector is one of the most highly regulated industries worldwide. Stakeholders are continually challenged to ensure high levels of safety that comply with statutory regulations, while achieving profitability. Process Safety (PS) is of utmost importance as the consequences of one incident can cause significant problems and losses across the entire business. Companies must stay abreast of developments and adjust their programs accordingly.

WHAT GOES INTO TÜV SÜD GRC’S PROCESS SAFETY PROGRAM?

An effective process safety program requires a systematic approach to evaluating the entire process. Using this approach, the process design, process technology, operational and maintenance activities and procedures, non-routine activities and procedures, emergency preparedness plans and procedures, training programs, and other elements which impact the process are all considered in the evaluation.

TÜV SÜD GRC believes that Process Safety (PS) provides more than a response to regulatory needs; it can also be an essential contributor to an organization’s overall effectiveness. TÜV SÜD GRC can assist you with the various types of PS services such as:

  • Process safety transformation and performance improvement

  • Process Safety Program Element Development & Support

  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) such as HAZOP, What-If, Fault Tree, etc.

  • Process Safety Auditing

  • Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA)

TÜV SÜD GRC can help you stay up-to-date, compliant with these regulations and better manage your business.

  • WEBINAR - BOWTIES IN PROCESS SAFETY

Introduction to Bowtie: Methodology and Structure (in German)Webinar Process Safety

Do you know your risk? Are your safeguards in place? Are they auditable? To help you with this matter, we would like to invite you to this cost-free technical webinar. This course provides training on the Bowtie methodology of risk analysis that depicts causal relationship in high risk scenarios. It provides a visual representation of all likely incident scenarios around a hazard and identifies the safeguards that a company could use to control those scenarios. The participants will learn the fundamentals of the methodology and how to build up high-quality Bowties.

Date: Thursday, June 18th | 14:00 - 15:00 CET

Speaker: Dr. Tobias Lorenz | Language: German | Cost: Free
