IEC 60086 Battery Standard

What is IEC battery standard certification?

IEC 60086 is an international standard that encourages manufacturers of batteries to ensure that their batteries are interchangeable according to standard form, fit and function. This is intended to help end users, as well as manufacturers of devices that use your batteries. Certification of the IEC battery standard shows that the battery complies with the standard. What’s more, interchangeability means the battery can be used in a much wider range of products, meaning you can boost adoption – and revenue, as a result.

TÜV SÜD is an accredited IEC testing partner

There are many benefits to demonstrating that a battery complies with the IEC battery standard:

  • Enhance consumer trust in your brand
  • Increase the likelihood that device manufacturers will include or recommend your batteries in their products
  • Demonstrate safety
  • Batteries that do not bear the IEC 60086 mark may be prohibited from certain markets
