Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR)
Warning

What is SS 507 Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR)?

Disaster recovery is an important part of business continuity and a resilience element that a world class organization must possess. Companies need to take cognizance of the threats of terrorism, natural disasters and geopolitical tensions and arrange for alternative locations for recovery operations in the event of a disaster.

The SS507 Singapore Standard for BC/DR service providers provides a basis for lowering BC/DR outsourcing risks and identifies the minimum requirements that a service provider should possess for an effective and efficient disaster recovery. It serves to assist end-user organizations in selecting the best-fit service providers and ensure that the service providers offer high service quality.

BC/DR service providers need to comply with various clauses of the standard.

  • Clause 3: General Requirements - Consists of requirements to be fulfilled by all service providers seeking certification.
  • Clause 4: Disaster Recovery Facility Certification - Lays down the requirements of the physical infrastructure and facility used in providing BC/DR services. It includes non-computing equipment used, physical assess control and security of recovery premises, air-conditioning environmental control and constant supply of electrical power.
  • Clause 5:  Service Provider Capability Certification - This specifies the service capability of the BC/DR service provider covering computing equipment used, staff training, and operational readiness.

SS 507 Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) provides your organisation with multiple benefits:

  • Assess to markets that require certification as an entry requirement
  • Benchmark to industry best-practices
  • Build customer confidence
  • Enhance company image
