15 May 2025
The 17th China International Battery Fair (hereafter "CIBF 2025") opened on 15 May 2025. It featured TÜV SÜD's comprehensive testing and certification solutions for the entire energy storage industry chain. Through a multi-dimensional approach involving the interpretation of technical standards, risk management and the utilisation of intelligent tools, TÜV SÜD helps enterprises to overcome international compliance barriers and accelerate their global expansion.
Focusing on Safety and Regulations: TÜV SÜD co-hosted the 4th International Battery Industry Cooperation Forum
During CIBF 2025, the Battery Industry Cooperation Forum (CIBICS 2025) focused on 3 core topics: the global ODI (Outward Direct Investment) policies, technical safety and battery regulations. The forum provided an in-depth analysis of global market access requirements, helping enterprises to build competitive compliance advantages.
- Topic 1: the global ODI (Outward Direct Investment) policies – The forum linked the worldwide authoritative organisations and leading enterprises of battery industry, discuss the new development direction and opportunities, and also promote the global development of battery industry.
- Topic 2: Technical Safety – Full chain of protection system
This topic focused on the intrinsic safety of lithium battery materials, fire mechanisms in energy storage systems, and explosion prevention and control solutions for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The aim was to create a "material-system-market" triad safety barrier to enhance enterprise risk management capabilities. - Topic 3: Battery Regulations – Full cycle compliance path
In response to the EU's new battery legislation, the forum provided details of the mandatory requirements for recycling technology, carbon footprint calculation and supply chain traceability. The forum clarified the responsibilities involved in the "production-recycling-trade" processes and provided regional compliance strategies for enterprises.
Debut of Digital Tools: Launch of the One-Stop New Energy Service Platform
TÜV SÜD has unveiled its "New Energy Services" digital tool, which integrates three main functions:
- Technical Certification: Enables parameter comparison across the entire industry chain, from photovoltaic modules to energy storage systems and charging stations. This includes standard adaptation analysis and a query feature for certification case libraries.
- Compliance Support: Provides customizable, enterprise-exclusive paths for electrical safety, grid compliance, and functionality safety.
- Strategic Thinking: Features include real-time global policy tracking and electronic resource libraries including the "EU Battery Regulation White Paper", and "Battery Factory, Production Line, and Equipment Compliance Services" assets.
