Project Value: circa £30K
Construction Dates: 2022
Services Provided: Survey, Project Management
TÜV SÜD Dunbar Boardman has worked closely with the University of Dundee for many years. As a trusted partner, we offer impartial advice on the University’s lift portfolio. When the lift in Peters Building approached the end of its life, the University was keen to assess and understand the options available as well as timescales and budgetary requirements.
TÜV SÜD provided the requested information enabling the University to obtain the funds required and the lift was subsequently included in the 2022 improvement plan. A full specification was then produced as part of a tender exercise for publishing on Public Contracts Scotland together with quality questions to ensure a sufficient level of tender returns were submitted. TÜV SÜD supported the tender process throughout and were part of the final review team completing a full tender analysis.
Main considerations and challenges for the University were around a staff member with mobility requirements, who used the Peters Building on a frequent basis. This, combined with the need to accommodate exam timescales, had to be at the forefront of the tender process, therefore the procurement of materials and installation times were crucial to the project’s success.
A suitable supplier was appointed who fulfilled all requirements including demonstrating best value for money. During the project works TÜV SÜD worked closely with the University and the contractor to achieve the agreed site installation programme and were present at the final witness test.
