Regulatory Update: NBTC Thailand announces mandatory technical requirements for the frequency 5.925 – 6.425GHz

On 21st April 2023, The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) in Thailand announced the technical standard NBTC TU 1039 – 2566 which establishes mandatory technical requirements for base units/access points and mobile/portable units using the frequency bands 5.925 – 6.425GHz.

Section 2 of the technical standard for RLAN equipment using BWA technology in the 5.925 - 6.425 GHz band shall be in accordance with the following:

- The output power must not exceed 250 mW E.I.R.P. indoors and 25 mW E.I.R.P. indoors and outdoors.
- The transmitter and receiver must comply with the US FCC Part 15 Subpart E rules for unlicensed NII devices.

Covered equipment is also subject to one of the following electrical safety standards:

  • IEC 60950-1
  • TIS 1561 – 2556 or the current version
  • IEC 62368–1
  • TIS 62368 Volume 1-2563 or the current version

    The covered equipment will be required to demonstrate compliance with this standard through the use of the Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC).
