Tell us about yourself

I studied Spanish and Russian at the University of St Andrews, as I was passionate about languages and expanding my horizons beyond the English-speaking world. On graduation I joined a company specialising in global market access, where I specialised in regulatory compliance in the CIS, LATAM and EMEA regions. Following four years at this company where I helped to grow and develop their services, I joined TÜV SÜD to help develop and expand their global market access needs in the Product Service division.

Why did you choose to apply to TÜV SÜD?

I chose to apply because I saw TÜV SÜD as a company that is expanding and growing, and I would like to work for a company that I can grow with as well. By working for such a global company, I also get to continue expanding my horizons.

Where do you work?

I work from home, primarily based in Buckinghamshire.

What are your main areas of expertise?

My area of expertise is, of course, global market access, particularly global requirements for devices with wireless technologies.

What does your role involve?

My role involves evaluating products developed by manufacturers, determining the best and smoothest route to global compliance, and then helping those manufacturers obtain the required certifications so they can access all of their required markets.

What most INTERESTS you about your role?

What excites me most about my role is the sheer scope of products and manufacturers I am working with. As part of the advanced technologies team, I am constantly exposed to cutting-edge products, which in turn involves an in-depth investigation to determine the requirements worldwide.

What exciting developments have you seen at TÜV SÜD since you started?

Since I've started in June 2022, a lot has happened at TÜV SÜD from the opening of the new EMC lab to exciting new developments within the GMA global team to increase collaboration going forwards.

What future trends do you see developing in your area of work?

The implementation of 5G and cyber security requirements is definitely something to watch, as regulators worldwide catch up with the constant technological developments.

What is your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge currently is the streamlining of current processes to ensure that all projects for GMA run smoothly so we provide the best level of service to our customers.

What do you see as the top perk of working for TÜV SÜD?

A top perk of working for TÜV SÜD is definitely the career progression opportunities. Working for such a large company certainly offers more opportunities.

How have TÜV SÜD supported you?

Going from a hybrid working environment to remote working environment has certainly been an adjustment, but TÜV SÜD has been very helpful in supporting my needs from home. This included providing any equipment that I need as well as regular check-ins from the team.

Describe your fellow workers in five words

Happy to lend a hand.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of applying for a role similar to yours?

You will be kept on your toes thanks to the variety of products you'll be working with, so don't be afraid to jump in and ask questions, whether they are questions posed to the manufacturer, or even to a regulator.
