India Extends Deadline for MTCTE Certification of Telecommunication Equipment in Phases III and IV

India's regulator, Ministry of Communications, has issued a notification on June 23, 20223 announcing a further extension of the deadline for mandatory testing and certification of telecommunication equipment (MTCTE) under phase-III and IV by three to six months, depending on the product category. The notification also extends the acceptance of test reports from ILAC-accredited labs for technical parameters until December 31, 2023.

The deadline for products falling into Annexure I of the announcement have had the mandatory certification deadline extended until 1st October 2023 from the earlier date of 1st July 2023. These include products such as:
- Routers / Gateways
- Switches
- Modems
- Wireless access points
- IP phones

Furthermore, the deadline has also been extended for 12 further products falling under Annexure II whose deadline for mandatory certification has also been extended from 1st July 2023 to 1st January 2024. These include products such as:
- Microwave radio systems
- Satellite earth stations
- Broadcast transmitters. 

In addition, there has also been another extension to the final date for acceptance of IALC accredited test reports for another 6 months until 31st December 2023.  However, manufacturers must still to obtain a security certificate from TEC or an Indian Common Criteria Certification Scheme (IC3S) lab for security parameters.
