In a positive development for the British Standards Institution Committee CPI/30/5 - Velocity and Mass Methods, Colin Lightbody, TÜV SÜD Principal Consultant, has taken on the role of Deputy Chair. The committee is dedicated to the development and maintenance of both UK and international metering standards relating to flow meters which operate on velocity or mass-based methods.
Having been an active committee member since 2007, Colin's appointment as Deputy Chair in October 2023 underscores his longstanding commitment to the industry. The committee plays a crucial role in ensuring that the BS and ISO flow measurement standards, used globally by the flow metering industry, meet the highest quality standards and offer maximum benefit to the sector. It covers a range of flow measurement technologies including standards related to Coriolis meters and ultrasonic flow meters.
The new chair is Martin Bragg from Honeywell, who is well known for his expertise in this area.
Colin is looking forward to his new role and commented:
"Guiding the flow of standards is not just a responsibility but a commitment to excellence. As Deputy Chair, I look forward to contributing to the evolution of metering standards, ensuring precision and clarity in an ever-changing industry."
Colin has been actively involved in the development of several key standards and is also Chair of the Global Flow Measurement Workshop (GFMW) in Scotland which is organised by TÜV SÜD.
We’re already in the process of organising next year’s GFMW and the Call for Abstracts is open until 29 February. If you want to be kept up-to-date with developments, and register at the early bird rate, visit our GFMW web page to sign up to the mailing list.
