Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) – Methodological Knowledge
At the end of this training, participants will:
- Know what an FMEA will help with.
- Know how to apply an FMEA.
- Know the advantages, limitations and alternatives of an FMEA.
- Familiarize with the topic at any time and from any location.
This training is intended for the following target group:
- Specialists and executives related to risk management or quality management
- People who would like to get to know and be able to assess the FMEA method (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and its possible applications
The following topics are covered in this training:
- Background to the development of FMEA
- Benefits and applications of an FMEA
- Process steps for the implementation of an FMEA
- Special features of the application of FMEA
- Traps in the use of FMEA, alternative and complementary methods
The FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) is one of the most important QM methods in the product life cycle. It helps you to balance costs with benefits in an early development phase. The FMEA helps to identify potential failures and design flaws, as well as reduce production costs – no matter what industry or product you use the FMEA for. You will learn the basics in this module. The sooner you identify and prevent potential failures, the less likely failures will occur later. This is critical because the belated detection of a failure is far more costly and time-consuming.
- why the FMEA was developed and what it will help you with
- what types of FMEA there are
- what the FMEA process looks like
- how the risk analysis works in the FMEA
- how to apply the five and seven steps of the classic and the new FMEA
- what benefits and limits the FMEA has and what some alternative methods are
The content is supplemented by clear video sequences. With free time allocation, you determine your own learning pace and check your learning success with the use of brief knowledge checks.
The online self-paced course employs a variety of training tools such as content-embedded assessment, animations, and other interactive exercises to enhance instructional delivery. Easily accessible via your preferred choice of device, the course allows you to log in and learn whenever, wherever.
Upon successful completion of the training course, a Certificate of attendance from the TÜV SÜD Academy will be issued.
