The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) represents a significant step in the European Union’s commitment to combating global deforestation and its impact on climate change. This compact half-day seminar provides a comprehensive introduction to Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, which mandates strict due diligence for companies dealing with key commodities such as soy, palm oil, beef, coffee, cocoa, rubber, and wood. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the regulation’s scope, its implementation timeline, and the implications for businesses operating within or trading with the EU.
Through four focused lessons, the training explores the core elements of the EUDR, including the identification of affected market players, relevant raw materials, and the roles of competent authorities. Attendees will learn how to determine whether their organization falls under the regulation’s purview and how to identify EUDR-relevant products and activities. The course also covers the critical requirements for traceability, geolocation data, and proof of compliance with deforestation-free standards.
A key component of the seminar is the risk assessment and mitigation process. Participants will be introduced to the EU’s country benchmarking system, evaluation criteria, and practical strategies for reducing supply chain risks. The training also addresses the due diligence declaration, reporting obligations, and potential sanctions for non-compliance, equipping professionals with the tools needed to navigate the regulation confidently.
Designed for specialists and decision-makers in purchasing, sales, supply chain, compliance, and sustainability roles, this virtual classroom experience offers actionable insights and practical guidance. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate from TÜV SÜD Academy, validating their preparedness to support their organization’s transition to deforestation-free supply chains.
