Many products placed on the market these days are equipped with Bluetooth functionally. The use of Bluetooth technology means your product must comply with the applicable regulatory requirements for your chosen market. Bluetooth technology has made many advancements over the years.
When you incorporate Bluetooth functionality or you integrate a Bluetooth chip or module, the final product becomes under the scope of the Radio Equipment directive for CE marking. Radio frequency testing is needed to test the radio spectrum is being used effectively and efficiently by not interfering with other users of the radio frequency spectrum.
Other testing/assessments are also required to ensure Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrical Safety and RF Exposure compliance.
Any Radio frequency compliance including Bluetooth is a mandatory requirement in most international markets including the EU, the US, Canada, Australia and Japan. If you manufacture a wireless device such as a device using Bluetooth or integrating a wireless chip/module such as Bluetooth, you must comply with the regulations of your intended markets, otherwise your products cannot be legally sold. Radio frequency testing can also reveal problems early helping brands avoid costly rework and gain access to global markets fast. A few examples are:
Europe (CE) and UK (UKCA)
ETSI EN 300 328
North America (FCC)
Part 15.247
Canada (ISED)
RSS-247
Japan
Radio Ordinance Article 2 Paragraph (19)
