EN 55032/CISPR 32 and EN 55035/CISPR 35 – EMC Testing of Multimedia Equipment (MME)

Guarantee the quality of your multimedia equipment

Guarantee the quality of your multimedia equipment

TÜV SÜD are ISO 17025 UKAS accredited to provide EMC testing for multimedia equipment (MME) to:

  • CISPR 32 / IEC/BS EN/ EN 55032
  • CISPR 25 / IEC/BS EN/ EN 55035

These standards apply to MME such as:

  • equipment that is information technology equipment (ITE)
  • audio equipment (AV)
  • video equipment
  • broadcast receiver equipment (television and satellite receivers)
  • entertainment lighting control equipment

What is EN 55032 (CISPR 32)?

EN 55032 is an emissions standard; it defines tests that are designed to identify electromagnetic emissions that propagate/emanate from your equipment are within an acceptable range and therefore not considered a source of interference. It looks at two types of emissions:

  1. through the air (Radiated Emissions)
  2. through connected cables (Conducted Emissions)

Class A vs Class B Limits

EN 55032 covers two classes of MME and manufacturers need to decide which class applies to their products:

  • Class B – any equipment which is mainly used in a residential environment
  • Class A – all other equipment (including commercial and industrial products) must comply with Class A limits

Class B limits are more stringent than Class A limits and are designed for equipment that is intended to be used in the vicinity of others and are therefore harder to meet.

What is EN 55035 (CISPR 25)?

EN 55035 is an Immunity Standard; it defines tests that are designed to enable manufacturers to demonstrate that their equipment is designed to withstand interference placed upon it either:

  1. through the air (Radiated Immunity or Susceptibility) or
  2. through any connected cables (Conducted Immunity)
