What is Temperature testing and why is it important?

Temperature testing reduces the risk of product failure in the field by simulating the temperature conditions that products are exposed to during their lifetime. The test specification defines the applied temperatures and test conditions, these may be to test the equipment's operational limits or to test the equipment's survivability at more extreme storage temperatures.

Why choose TÜV SÜD for temperature testing?

TÜV SÜD has the capability to test at temperatures between -65°C and +190°C. Testing is performed in climatic chambers ranging in size from a small desk top chamber up to a 120m³ drive-in chamber.

The laminar airflow within the climatic chambers ensures that a uniform temperature distribution is achieved throughout the entire volume of the chamber. Temperature test specifications may also require the control of the humidity since the relative humidity is direct affected by the temperature.

We can provide manufacturers with the following testing services:

  • High and low temperature testing
  • Rapid temperature rate of change testing
  • Cyclic temperature testing
  • Combined temperature and humidity testing
  • Combined temperature and altitude testing
  • Combined temperature, humidity and altitude testing
  • Combined temperature and vibration testing

We provide testing for temperature to many specifications including the following common standards:

  • IEC 60068
  • RTCA/DO-160
  • MIL-STD-810
  • DEF-STAN 00-35

Any test not on our UKAS scope which is within our capability can be added quickly through our flexible schedule, which is a rare privilege granted to us by our accrediting authority.

Capabilities:

  • 12 temperature chambers
  • Temperatures between -65°C and +190°C
  • Largest chamber 6 x 5 x 4 meters
  • 4 rapid temperature change chambers up to 25˚C / minute
