This webinar includes some details about the trends that are relevant to Functional Safety of machinery. We will discuss how emerging technologies are being applied to applications like ‘Industrial Robots’ and ‘Automated Guided Vehicles’ (AGVs), and a combination of those things ‘Automated Mobile Robots’ (AMRs).

We will also discuss some of the challenges for Functional Safety when applying the Internet of Things (IoT) in industrial processes, the so called Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).


About the speaker

Stewart Robinson

Senior Product Specialist, TÜV SÜD 

Stewart Robinson is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET) and a member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (MInstMC). He was a member of the Safety Panel of the InstMC and chaired that Panel for many years. He is also a member of the British Standards Institution committee that deals with machinery safeguarding (MCE/3) and part of the BSI panel that reviews standards for Industrial Robots (AMT/10/0-/2). He is the nominated UK Expert on the maintenance team for IEC 62061 (Functional Safety for Machinery) and is nominated by the InstMC for IEC working groups on standards for ‘The Digital Factory’ and ‘Reliability of Industrial Automation Devices and Systems’. He is listed as a Functional Safety Expert in the TÜV SÜD certification programme (I.D. TA13010249).

He has been delivering training courses for more than 25 years on various topics, mainly concerned with Industrial Control Systems but also on the general aspects of machinery safety.
