ISO 13849-1 is a machinery safety standard for safety-related parts of control systems (SRP/CS). It applies primarily to industrial machinery and the standard is used by machine manufacturers, system integrators, and machine users.

A long awaited new version (edition 4) was published in April 2023 which has replaced the 2015 edition.

Edition 4 has been extensively revised and the whole document has been reorganised to better reflect the design and development process for safety-related control systems.
