Industry: Lifestyle retail
Solution: ISO 14064 Verification
Independent carbon footprint verification helps organisations build trust in their environmental data, strengthen reporting credibility and support meaningful sustainability progress. For The White Company, verification provided assurance, reinforced accountability and created a stronger foundation for B Corp recertification, annual impact reporting and alignment with recognised sustainability frameworks.
The White Company is a multichannel lifestyle retailer specialising in luxury homeware, fashion and lifestyle products such as clothing, fragrances, children’s and babywear, toys and gifts. Operating around 60 stores globally, recent milestones include significant digital expansion, sustainability initiatives and premium product innovations.
As part of its B Corp recertification, The White Company required an independent third party to verify its carbon footprint and underlying accounting methodologies. Sustainability and accountability are core to The White Company’s values, and maintaining robust, credible reporting is essential to its ambition to be a leader in the textiles and apparel sector. This project was therefore a key step in ensuring the integrity of The White Company’s environmental data and disclosures.
We performed on-site and remote auditing activities of the documentation and supporting evidence provided by The White Company. Upon completion, a verification report was drafted, which was evaluated and approved by an independent technical reviewer. Our verification body then issued an assurance statement to The White Company which attests to their GHG Inventory's compliance with ISO 14064-1 guidelines for Corporate Carbon Footprinting, the level of assurance achieved, and the total quantity of emissions reported.
The White Company selected TÜV SÜD due to its “strong reputation for diligence, transparency, and responsiveness”. Its structured and methodical approach to verification, combined with efficient turnaround times, gave The White Company confidence in the process. Their previous experience working with TÜV SÜD in another area of the business also supported the decision.
Verification is critical to maintaining The White Company’s B Corp certification, which is highly valued across the organisation. Beyond recertification, the process strengthens the credibility of The White Company’s carbon reporting and enhances the robustness of its data. This supports more accurate annual impact reporting and alignment with key sustainability frameworks, while reinforcing internal accountability and continuous improvement.
