Stratford Waterfront is a new neighbourhood that will enable some of the world’s leading cultural and educational institutions to reach out into the East London boroughs that hosted the Olympic Games. This important legacy investment will create new venues for Sadler’s Wells, UAL’s London College of Fashion, Victoria & Albert Museum and the new home for BBC Music as well as a significant number of new homes, retail space, a high-quality public realm and additional cultural/community spaces.

The façade access consultancy scope included schematic design and design development. With the exception of residential blocks and London College of Fashion, which is accessed via permanently installed roof mounted BMUs, the external elevations of remaining buildings will be accessed via mobile platforms positioned along Carpenters Road and along the waterside.

Access strategy has been mainly coordinated with the landscaping team to allow the system to manoeuvre for accessing the internal glazed façades and carry out façade replacement. Our façade access team coordinated with other key disciplines namely structural, façades and MEP. Several options were explored under the light of cleaning time, capital and on-going costs before concluding the strategy. Regular meetings were attended with CDM and the project health and safety team particularly when designing the façade replacement strategy.

TÜV SÜD Dunbar Boardman continue to deliver the remaining scope of works which will include witness testing on site and practical completion.
