KAMPUS is a £250 million new neighbourhood in Manchester city centre by Capital & Centric and HBD. Once home to Manchester Metropolitan University, the site is being transformed into over 500 apartments to rent in new buildings, former Victorian canal-side warehouses and the existing brutalist 1960s tower. With a lush secret garden at its heart and spaces for independent bars, restaurants, cafes and shops it will be Manchester’s newest destination. KAMPUS opens its doors in 2020.
TÜV SÜD have been appointed to carry out MEP, Sustainability and Vertical Transportation design duties for KAMPUS, with advice and monitoring duties continuing throughout the construction period. The new build element of the project comprises almost 500 apartments across three 14 and 15 storey towers with retail and leisure units at ground floor level, sat around lush new gardens. The listed building elements of the KAMPUS development will deliver
58 apartments and a number of retail and leisure units within two, grade 2 listed, former mill buildings called Minto and Turner and Minshull House, sat adjacent to the Rochdale Canal.
