Intro to TUV SUD BABT

Date: 10 Jan 2024

TÜV SÜD BABT was formed as the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications (BABT) in 1982 and has since grown to become one of the world’s leading telecommunications Certification Bodies. TÜV SÜD BABT has expanded its services outside of the telecoms industry and now provides product certification to the marine, consumer, electronics, and renewable energy sectors. Some of the Certification schemes include Radio Equipment, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Safety of Machinery, PPE and UKEx

Following Brexit, two expansion programmes were initiated to cope with customer demand. First, schemes were mirrored through TÜV SÜD Denmark to allow existing TÜV SÜD BABT customers to receive CE and UKCA certification in a joint project. Secondly, new schemes such as Pressure Equipment, Lifts, Gas Appliances, Construction Products and Outdoor Noise were added to provide the same service for customers of the German Notified Bodies.
TÜV SÜD BABT now have one of the broadest accreditation packages (ISO 17065, ISO 17021-1 and ISO 17024) and widest range of schemes of all TÜV SÜD certification bodies.
