Regulatory Update: New Safety Testing Protocol for Electric Heat Pumps in Chile

If you are a manufacturer of electric heat pumps for air conditioning, sanitary hot water, swimming pools or more than one of these applications, you should be aware of the new safety testing protocol that has been approved by the Chilean Superintendence of Electricity and Fuels (SEC) and will come into force on 30 April 2023.

The protocol, known as PE No. 1/37: 2021, was approved under Resolution No. 10016 on 20 December 2021 and sets out the safety certification procedure for electric heat pumps according to the scope and field of application of the IEC Standard 603365-1: 2016.

The protocol specifies the requirements based on the provisions of IEC 60335-2-40, as set out in Table A of the regulation.
